Our privacy principles

Six commitments that guide how we handle your data.

Encrypted by default

All data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit.

Minimal collection

We only collect data necessary to provide and improve the Service.

No selling of data

We never sell your personal information to third parties. Period.

Data portability

Export your data at any time. Your content belongs to you.

Transparent practices

We tell you exactly what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Your rights respected

Access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data at any time.

1. Information we collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, company name, and role. If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing information through our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, demos created, and performance metrics. This helps us improve the product and provide support.

Demo content: When you create demos, we process the content you upload (screenshots, HTML, text) to provide the Service. Your demo content is stored securely and is not used for any purpose other than delivering the Service to you.

Device and log data: We automatically collect IP addresses, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps when you access the Service. This data is used for security, analytics, and troubleshooting.

2. How we use your information

Providing the Service: We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the Demoship platform, including demo creation, hosting, analytics, and personalization features.

Communication: We may send you transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts, security alerts) and, with your consent, product updates and marketing communications. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.

Analytics and improvement: We use aggregated, anonymized usage data to understand how the Service is used, identify trends, and improve features. We do not use your demo content to train AI models.

Security and fraud prevention: We use device and log data to detect and prevent unauthorized access, abuse, and fraudulent activity.

3. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality (authentication, preferences), analytics (understanding usage patterns), and marketing (measuring campaign effectiveness).

You can manage your cookie preferences through the consent banner on our website. Essential cookies are required for the Service to function. Analytics and marketing cookies are optional and can be disabled at any time.

We use the following categories of cookies: Strictly Necessary (authentication, security, preferences), Analytics (page views, feature usage, performance monitoring), and Marketing (campaign measurement, retargeting).

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers: We work with trusted third-party providers for hosting (AWS), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and analytics. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and may only use it to provide services to us.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Demoship, our users, or the public.

Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your data.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or compliance purposes.

Demo content is deleted when you remove it from the platform or when your account is terminated. Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Backup copies of your data may persist in our backup systems for up to 90 days after deletion from the primary systems.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data. Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data. Restriction: Request that we restrict how we process your data. Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data. Objection: Object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@demoship.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

7. International data transfers

Demoship is based in the United States. If you are located outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US. We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other appropriate safeguards to protect data transferred internationally.

For EU/EEA users, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For California residents, we comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

8. Children's privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, regular security audits, and employee training. For more details, see our Security page.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
