Handoff
Configure lead qualification, meeting booking, rep notification, and context transfer from AI agents to your sales team.
Handoff is the process of transferring a qualified prospect from the AI agent to a human rep. A good handoff preserves conversation context so the rep can pick up without the prospect repeating themselves.
Lead qualification
Define criteria that determine when a prospect is ready for human engagement:
Qualification criteria
- Go to Agent Demos > Handoff > Qualification.
- Add qualification signals:
- Company size -- Minimum employee count or revenue.
- Role -- Decision-maker, influencer, or end-user.
- Use case fit -- Prospect's stated need matches your product's capabilities.
- Budget -- Expressed willingness or ability to purchase.
- Timeline -- Active buying timeline vs. early research.
- Set a scoring threshold (e.g., 3 out of 5 signals met = qualified).
The agent gathers this information naturally during conversation, without sounding like it's running through a checklist.
Meeting booking
When a prospect qualifies, the agent offers to schedule a meeting:
Calendar integration
- Go to Handoff > Calendar.
- Connect your team calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, or Calendly).
- Configure available time slots and meeting duration.
- The agent presents available times inline during the conversation.
Routing
Route meetings to the right rep:
- Round-robin -- Distribute evenly across available reps.
- Territory-based -- Route by geography, company size, or industry.
- Account ownership -- Route to the existing account owner in your CRM.
- Skill-based -- Route technical prospects to SE, commercial prospects to AE.
Rep notification
When a handoff occurs, notify the assigned rep:
- Email -- Summary of the conversation and prospect context.
- Slack -- Real-time notification in a configured channel or DM.
- CRM activity -- A new task or activity logged on the contact record.
Notifications include:
- Prospect name, company, and contact information.
- Conversation summary and key topics discussed.
- Qualification score and signals met.
- Specific questions the prospect asked.
- Meeting details (if booked).
Context transfer
The rep receives the full conversation context so they can prepare:
- Conversation transcript -- The complete agent-prospect dialogue.
- Topic summary -- AI-generated summary of what the prospect cared about.
- Feature interest -- Which product features the prospect asked about or explored.
- Competitive mentions -- Any competitors the prospect brought up.
- Objections -- Concerns or hesitations expressed during the conversation.
Access context from the CRM record, the handoff notification, or the Demoship dashboard under Agent Demos > Conversations.
Note: Prospects are informed when a handoff occurs. The agent says something like "I'm connecting you with [Rep Name] who can help with next steps." Transparency builds trust.
